This workshop is designed for beginners, it will introduce you to basic silversmithing whilst concentrating on making rings. Techniques covered will include sawing, hammering, soldering, cleaning and polishing (using a tumber) and forming metal. We will start with a series of stacker rings to build up your confidence in soldering, these will have different finishes and we will build up to sawing and soldering a more substantial rings out of sheet silver. We'll use using stamps to decorate or texture the sheet and you will be able to create an anticlastic ring or barreled, a stamped message ring and a spinner ring. We will be using a very simple method for forming the anticlastic ring that is only suitable for making rings and uses minimal equipment. The 3 day workshop is available as 3 days of ring making and silversmithing or 2 days plus one of our one day workshops. Workshops are kept small 1-3 people to make sure you get lots of attention and you will stay in your own room in a cosy renovated cottage. There will be no single supplement and vegetarians will be well fed !
